Our Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston real estate team wrapped up 2015 with a focus on giving back to families in the Triangle and beyond. Through our HPW Foundation, our company was able to support more than 16,500 people throughout the holiday season by partnering with area nonprofit organizations to provide turkeys for holiday meals, supply necessities to local families, active military and veterans, and surprise those in need with Christmas gifts.

“Giving back in our communities is of utmost importance to all of us at Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston,” said Don Walston, company founder and chairman. “We are all called to help one another, especially those in need, and I’m proud of the tremendous generosity our real estate agents and staff demonstrate each and every year to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Turkeys for the Triangle
The HPW Foundation’s Turkeys for the Triangle program partnered with Garner-based Butterball again this year to significantly increase its annual turkey donation and help support more food-insecure families in and around Wake, Durham, Johnston, Orange and Alamance counties.

Turkeys for the TriangleA collective effort of the company’s agents and staff who sell raffle tickets during the holiday season to raise money to fund the purchase of the special birds, Turkeys for the Triangle distributed a record 4,000 turkeys to more than 60 local charities as well as active military and veterans. Recipient organizations were pre-selected and included the USO, U.S. Veterans Corp, Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, Fuquay-Varina Emergency Food Pantry, Garner Area Ministries Food Pantry, Raleigh Rescue Mission and other charities supported by CBHPW agents and staff.

Turkeys for the Triangle has donated over 25,000 turkeys to anchor holiday meals for more than 100,000 people since its inception more than a decade ago.

With the support of CBHPW’s local real estate offices, the HPW Foundation proudly supported Military Missions in Action’s Fill the Footlocker effort for the second consecutive year. The Fill the Footlocker program supports active-duty servicemen and military working dogs as well as homeless veterans.

CBHPW real estate agents and staff donated backpack basics including sunblock, lip balm, DVDs, sunglasses, snacks and dog treats to fill more than 500 shoeboxes, which were packaged in pre-paid postal boxes donated by the HPW Foundation.

Hope for the Holidays – Me Fine Foundation
For more than six years, CBHPW’s HPW Foundation has supported the Me Fine Foundation’s Hope for the Holidays program to provide special holiday gifts for families who have experienced severe medical hardships. This year, CBHPW agents and staff sponsored 10 families donating more than 165 gifts ranging from electronics and toys to clothes, shoes and gift cards to support the requests of each child and parent in need.

“We are determined to help people win. It’s a meaningful way to do business and the right way to live our lives,” added Walston.
