Throwback Thursday – Mordecai House, Raleigh NC

#TBT – We are throwing back to the late 19th century today with a photograph of the historic Mordecai House, located in Mordecai Park. It is the oldest house in Raleigh in its original location. Built in 1785, it was originally the center of a plantation. The oldest section of the home was built by Joel Lane, a founder of Raleigh, for his son Henry. The house and its surrounding property were sold to the City of Raleigh in 1967, and it is a designated Raleigh Historic Landmark. Happy Thursday!
