HPW Happenings | Announcing New CEO Kent Hanley

CBHPW CEO Kent Hanley
We are excited to announce the appointment of Kent Hanley as Chief Executive Officer of Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston, effective August 1.

With more than 30 years of real estate experience, Hanley has managed nearly every facet of the industry from working as a loan officer and a real estate sales manager, to creating and operating ancillary real estate services, and serving in numerous senior management roles. His broad range of abilities and vast experience aligns well with Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston’s mission to continue to strengthen its suite of real estate service offerings and bolster its leadership within the Triangle real estate market and beyond.

“It is a privilege to welcome Kent to the Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston team,” said company Founder and Chairman Don Walston. “I’ve known Kent personally and professionally for many years and have always admired his great talent and foresight. Kent is highly regarded within the real estate industry and well positioned to continue steering our company towards the significant growth and success we aspire to achieve.”

In 2015, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston exceeded 8,765 real estate transactions with over $2.4 billion in sales. With 15 area offices from as far west as Mebane and as far east as Goldsboro, the Triangle real estate leader is on pace to surpass those figures this year.

Hanley joins Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston from William Raveis Real Estate in Shelton, Conn., the eighth largest residential real estate company in the U.S., where he began his career in 1985. He held several leadership roles during his long tenure with the company including his most recent position as executive vice president and general manager overseeing the firm’s entire Connecticut sales organization. Under his tutelage, the company developed a technology-driven and service-oriented culture resulting in a robust agent roster and numerous sales offices across the Northeast.

Prior to that position, he served as vice president of operations for William Raveis Real Estate and vice president of its William Raveis Mortgage Company. In those roles, he managed the transformation of the in-house mortgage brokerage to become a mortgage banking operation, which helped to round out the firm’s numerous real estate services.

President and COO David Jones was impressed by Hanley’s strategic vision for Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston and its growing network of real estate offices and agents. He said, “Kent will be an important addition to our leadership team as he has a deep understanding of the multitude of service lines that make up the real estate industry. His guidance and broad skill-set will most assuredly advance our company’s offerings and provide great support to our talented real estate team.”

Hanley is an active leader in industry associations and joint business ventures. He serves as a director and founding member of Upstream RE, a real estate market data consortium, as the chairman of the board for Realty Alliance, and as a director for the National Association of Realtors.

Hanley graduated from Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business in Bloomington, Ind. He is an avid drag racer and is a Divisional Racers’ Representative for the National Hot Rod Association in Glendora, Calif. Hanley supports numerous nonprofit organizations including participating as a committee member for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Dinner of Champions and volunteering at Paul Newman’s The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, Conn.
