Throwback Thursday – Colonial Pines Hotel and Resort

Colonial Pines Hotel postcard - Your LuxuryMovers Real Estate Team Raleigh NC

#TBT – We are throwing back to 1956 today, and a postcard of the Colonial Pines Hotel and Resort, located two miles south of Raleigh, on Tryon Road near the intersection of U.S. Highway 70. The hotel, which opened in 1933, was surrounded by a pine forest on three sides, and included two 18-hole golf courses, polo grounds, a riding club, tennis courts, a lake and a drive-in movie theater.  The hotel closed in the 1950’s. It is now the chapter house of North Carolina State University’s Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, and the property has been designated a Raleigh Historic Landmark. Happy Thursday!
