Whether you are celebrating your dad, your husband or your grandfather, consider taking him out and about for some local fun to make memories your entire family will cherish for years to come.

There are some really fun Father’s Day events planned throughout the Triangle this weekend that he may enjoy. Let him pick the event he likes the most or make it a surprise—either way, he’s sure to love it!

Family Fishing Day
Saturday, June 18 from 9 to 10 a.m.
Historic Yates Mill County Park
4620 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh

Take dad fishing the “old fashioned” way at the Historic Yates Mill County Park millpond. Park representatives will teach you and your father how to fish with a cane pole and will help identify the fish you catch. Pre-register here to participate.

Father’s Day 5K benefiting Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina

5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m.

Go on a fun run with your daddy! You’ll get to exercise together and support a great cause at the same time. The racecourse flows from the popular retail center to the Tobacco Trail and back to Maggiano’s restaurant for a yummy celebration afterward. Register here by 9 p.m. tonight.

DIY with Dad Day
Sunday, June 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Marbles Kids Museum
201 East Hargett Street, Raleigh

Little ones will love the opportunity to spend special time with their dad at Marbles this weekend. They can work together to design and make inventions at the DIY with Dad workshop and then have great fun in the interactive museum exhibits.

Father’s Day Food Truck Rodeo
Sunday, June 19 from noon to 4 p.m.

Is your father a foodie? This Father’s Day Food Truck Rodeo may be the perfect place to celebrate his special day. There will be more than 50 food trucks at the park as well as craft beer and live music for him to enjoy.

Take dad out to the ballpark! He’ll enjoy watching the Carolina Mudcats take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Even better, the first 1,200 Mudcats fans to enter the baseball stadium will receive free Father’s Day BBQ aprons.
