Memorial Day Events in the Triangle

For many people, Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to summer. Some families will head to the beach while others spend the day at the pool with plans to grill out afterward. But, no matter how you plan to spend the weekend or your Monday off, we should not forget the true purpose of the holiday: remembrance.

Memorial Day is a special time to pay tribute to the many servicemen and women who lost their lives protecting our freedoms. In the words of former President Harry S. Truman, “Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”

There are plenty of Memorial Day events and ceremonies scheduled throughout the Triangle area for you take part in to commemorate the lives lost for our freedoms.
