North Carolina has been ranked second in new solar capacity in the United States for the second quarter, says research organization NPD Solarbuzz. California led the way, not surprisingly, installing 521 megawatts of new solar capacity in the quarter.  North Carolina is well-covered in Solarbuzz’s just released solar industry publication, North America PV Markets Quarterly, for the second quarter. It notes the state’s solar capacity is projected to grow 80 percent this year to 285 megawatts. It also says projects already in the pipeline are expected to increase the state’s capacity another 30 percent in 2013. Solarbuzz identifies Chapel Hill-based Strata Solar as the state’s leading developer. The research organization notes Strata alone has completed 100 megawatts of solar capacity in the 12 months ending June 30. Read the full article in the Triangle Business Journal.
