1.) Demand Is High
Homes are selling at the fastest pace in almost 4 years. Existing monthly home sales increased 9.7% over the same month last year. Buyer traffic is 31% stronger than a year ago which means: there are buyers out there, and they are serious about buying.
2) Supply Is Increasing
The total housing inventory rose 11.9% last month. Many analysts expect inventory to continue to rise as more sellers come out of negative equity. Selling while inventory is still tight and demand is high may garner you the best price.
3) Interest Rates Are Rising
Interest rates for a 30-year mortgage have risen to 3.98%, which is an increase of 1/2 a point since the beginning of the year. While the industry is not projecting an astronomic rate jump, it is almost universally agreed that you will pay more for your mortgage a year from now. Taking advantage of the current rates should be a great motivator for potential homebuyers.
