Who Wants Doughnuts?

K2CThe 9th Annual Krispy Kreme Challenge is rolling through Raleigh this Saturday, February 9th, and while the race is at capacity (with an expected 8,000 runners), it is plenty of fun to watch! The Challenge begins at Memorial Belltower on the N.C. State campus; runners then dash the 2.5 miles through historic downtown Raleigh to the well-known Krispy Kreme on the corner of Peace and Person Streets, where they attempt to eat one dozen of the classic glazed doughnuts before actually trying to run back to the Belltower. What started as a dare has become a widely-known and celebrated charity run; Sports Illustrated even named the K2C as one of its “102 More Things You Gotta Do Before You Graduate”. Today the Krispy Kreme Challenge benefits The N.C. Children’s Hospital, which is one of the most highly-respected pediatric hospitals in the country. The race is a sight to behold, in addition to bold displays of athleticism and gastronomical bravery the race is full of costumed participants, all adding to the reverie and excitement. The race starts at 8:30 AM, so head out, have some doughnuts, and support a great cause! Visit the Krispy Kreme Challenge’s website for more event info and background.
