Unemployment Filings Drop

The number of people filing for unemployment has returned to pre-Superstorm Sandy levels; the storm had caused a temporary spike in jobless claims last month due to the massive destruction and disruption caused by Sandy. The storm is likely to depress numbers for November as well, but weekly applications have returned to levels consistent with modest hiring.
