#TBT – We are throwing back to the 1920’s today with a photograph of the Josephus Daniels House, located at 1520 Caswell Street, on the edge of the Hayes Barton neighborhood of Raleigh. Daniels owned and operated the News and Observer, and was appointed Ambassador to Mexico by President Franklin Roosevelt. He also served as Secretary of the Navy under President Wilson, and a captured German deck gun, installed in front of his home, commemorates his term of appointment. In 1950, the house was purchased by the Raleigh Masons, and became the headquarters for the Masonic Temple of Raleigh. The house is a designated Raleigh Historic Landmark. Happy Thursday!
