#TBT: Today we are flashing back to 1977, and the moving of the Seaboard Railroad Office Building. Originally called the Raleigh and Gaston Railroad Office Building, it was constructed in 1861 in the Italianate Style at the corner of Halifax and North Streets in downtown Raleigh. That area was redeveloped in 1977 as the Halifax State Government Mall, and the building, because of its historical significance was moved two blocks west to its current location across Salisbury Street. It was the largest building ever moved in Raleigh. Happy Thursday!
