Are you seeking a tech job? Durham and Raleigh are for you. The Triangle’s two largest cities have earned recognition from Homes.com ranking among the nation’s top emerging cities to live for tech careers.
A leading real estate portal, Homes.com recently published its New Tech City Index 2016 report highlighting the top 20 metro areas throughout the nation that are emerging as tech hubs. Durham scored among the top 10 cities named ranking eighth, with Raleigh following closely behind in 18th place—both superior designations given that the list was narrowed down from 365 cities initially.
Homes.com analyzed a variety of metrics to fully assess the cities it reviewed including data reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Consideration was given to cities with above average industry wages, a broad number of employees within the industry, average house prices, and area affordability.
With the growing Research Triangle Park (RTP) centrally located between Raleigh and Durham, it isn’t surprising to hear that the North Carolina cities are ideal for techies. The largest research park in the country spanning more than 7,000 acres, the RTP is home to more than 200 businesses with 46,000+ high-tech workers. Well-known companies like Red Hat, Cisco Systems, Verizon, SAS Institute and numerous startups, which have gained the attention of Forbes, have also made area Triangle cities home; you should too.
