Let’s give Raleigh a round of applause—the Capital City is one of America’s favorite cities according to Travel + Leisure Magazine.
The national travel and hospitality publication’s vast readership was asked to cast their votes in its annual “Favorite Places Survey” and Raleigh snagged ninth place ahead of widely known metros like Charleston, Denver, San Diego and New York City. Survey respondents were asked to submit their favorite place and rate it based on 65 different criteria such as notable restaurants, parks to visit and affordability.
According to Travel + Leisure’s report, “The Research Triangle city impressed readers with its bars and its brainy locals. The Raleigh Beer Garden, which opened in 2015, boasts of being the largest beer garden in the world, standing three stories high and offering nearly 400 beers on tap. You’ll find brews from Oregon, Belgium and even Tulsa, as well as plenty of local options like Lonerider’s Shotgun Better Weissbier. If beer is not your thing, the cocktails ranked well, too: at restaurant-and-bar Death & Taxes, try the Rye Cobbler with whiskey, blackberries and mint, perhaps paired with roasted oysters or foraged mushrooms cooked in brown butter and sherry.”
Triangle foodies will agree that the greater Raleigh metro has some very tasty restaurants, cafés, and bars led by extremely talented chefs and owners. From Ashley Christensen’s award-winning downtown restaurants to the long-standing Angus Barn premier steakhouse and numerous independently owned establishments in between, there is an abundance of dishes and drinks sure to delight both light-hearted and discerning palates.
The area also has a number of public parks, recreational facilities, sports complexes, and entertainment venues that draw visitors near and far. It’s nearly impossible to find a weekend that isn’t filled with events and activities for people of all interests and ages.
Is your interest piqued? Come visit. Come explore Raleigh and the greater Triangle area for yourself. We won’t be surprised if you decide to stay and when you do, we’ll be ready to help you find a home.
