If you’re not heading out of town for the long weekend, do not fear, there are a variety of Independence Day celebrations all across the Triangle throughout the weekend! Live music, fireworks, family-friendly games, throwback celebrations-there is something for everyone this weekend! Here is a list of some of our top picks for festivities throughout the Triangle:
Clayton:
*Annual Town of Clayton Parks & Recreation Independence Day Celebration – Friday, July 4th
Municipal Park (West Stalling Street) : starting at 4:00 PM
FREE admission, ice cream, watermelon, games and concert with Jim Quick & Coastline at 6 PM. Fireworks at 9:30 PM
Holly Springs:
*Independence Day Celebration at Sugg Farm Park – Saturday, July 5th
Sugg Farm Park, 2401 Grigsby Avenue : 5:00 PM-9:30 PM
Enjoy music, food vendors, inflatables and games, potato sack races, arts and crafts, face painting, and cornhole tournaments. Fireworks at 9:15 PM.
Durham:
*The 35th Annual Festival for the Eno – Friday, July 4th & Saturday, July 5th
West Point on the Eno – Durham City Park, 5101 N. Roxboro Road : 10:00 AM-6:00 PM each day
This annual good old fashioned party is held to benefit the Eno River and Watershed, proceeds go towards funding important conservation and educational work. There will be great music and beautiful craft arts, fun demonstrations and activities, local food trucks and vendors, a Beer Garden, and lots of opportunities to splash in the river.
*Durham Central Park Children’s Independence Day Parade – Friday, July 4th
The Pavilion at 501 Foster Street : 9:30 AM-11:00 AM
Bring the kids and celebrate the birth of our nation in this fun and patriotic parade. Come early to help your kids decorate their bikes, big wheels, tricycles, wagons, even strollers with the help of The Scrap Exchange! Free popsicles, music from DJ Piddipat, balloons, City of Durham fire truck and more. Parade starts at 10:30 am.
Garner:
*Town Of Garner Independence Day Celebration – Thursday, July 3rd
Lake Benson Park : gates open at 5:00 PM
An evening of fun for the whole family featuring performances by the North Carolina Symphony and The Carolina Soul Band. There will be a Kids Adventure Zone featuring inflatables, games and crafts as well as delicious concessions provided by local non-profit organizations. The evening will end with one of the area’s best fireworks shows!
Chapel Hill:
*Town Of Chapel Hill’s 4th Of July Celebration – Friday, July 4th
Kenan Memorial Stadium : gates open at 7:00 PM
Enjoy live music from Bull City Syndicate and fun family-friendly activities like a watermelon eating contest and interactive improv comedy acts. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 PM.
Cary:
*Independence Day Olde Time Celebration at Bond Park – Friday, July 4th
Fred G. Bond Metro Park : starts at 7:30 AM
Join in on all the action! There will be a parent/child Fishing Tournament. Pre-parade bike/stroller decorating followed by a festive parade, a canine talent show and classic family team games like watermelon eating and water balloon tossing.
*July 4th Celebration at Koka Booth Amphitheater – Friday, July 4th
Koka Booth Amphitheatre : 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Celebrate our nation’s birthday in spectacular style at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre with patriotic performances by the Cary Town Band and the North Carolina Symphony! Gates open at 3 p.m. and is free to all! For those that want a special reserved seat, Booth Amphitheatre is once again offering four-seat tables for purchase. The price is $140 per table and includes Lumpy’s Ice cream, a Star Spangled Swirl Bread from Great Harvest Bread Company and preferred parking. Tickets may be purchased at the Amphitheatre Box Office or online at www.etix.com. There will also be kids activities, a model boat regatta, contests and games! Fireworks immediately following concert. In the event of rain, fireworks only will be held on Saturday, July 5.
Raleigh:
*The Works July 4th On Fayetteville Street – Friday, July 4th
Fayetteville Street & Red Hat Amphitheater : festivities from Noon-11:00 PM
Once again, Downtown Raleigh will be the one and only host of the City’s Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza. Celebrate Independence Day during the day with live music, a beer/wine tent, kids rides and games, Circus Maximus, street performers, eating contests, food and art vendors, Picnic on Fayetteville Street and much more! Fireworks will light up the sky over The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts starting at around 9:30pm.
