Here’s a fun and creative weekend activity for your pre-teens (tweens?)! The North Carolina Museum of Art is offering a workshop based on “icons”. An icon is an artistic portrait of an important person that uses symbols to tell us about his or her life. The class will take inspiration from the museum and park and then allow your young artist to create a modern iconic portrait of themselves or someone important to them using mixed media. Selected works from this workshop will be displayed in an upcoming NCMA exhibition! The series is for youths ages 11-14. Each workshop introduces a new theme and allows focused time to be creative with friends. Register online, by calling (919) 715-5923, or in person at the Museum Box Office.
